The 4th largest city in the emirate of Abu Dhabi Al Ain’s remains a popular draw for intrepid visitors who come to explore the Buraimi Oasis area in which it sites. There are forts to discover and desert safaris to embark upon making it an outdoor enthusiast’s playground.
em>Al Ain an important staging post on the caravan routes of Arabia. Located right on the border with Oman its strategic importance to should not be overlooked and yet until recently it was a quiet oasis backwater. The discovery of oil has changed that and now it is a thriving town replete with several historical forts and archaeological sites.
The Hili Archaeological Garden has remnants of a Bronze Age settlement dating back to 2500 - 2000 BC indicating the regions occupation in antiquity. The host of palmeries that are a feature of the area along with farms are evidence of the fertility of the soil.
Its tag as the Garden City is well deserved with many parks are all beautifully kept and well worth a visit and feature play areas, benches under shady trees, meandering walkways and elaborate fountains, they offer tranquil hideaways for visitors and residents alike.
Attractions in Al Ain
Al Ain has numerous attractions from camel and livestock markets to museums and aquariums. There are shady parks with fountains to enjoy. Highlights also include Jahili Fort, the Old Prison and the views from nearby Jebel Hafeet.
Activities in Al Ain
Get out and about on foot then take to a 4WD to explore the desert beyond the city. There are some great walks to enjoy along with desert camping trips and camel rides. Make arrangements with a specialist in Abu Dhabi before departing for a hassle free desert experience.

Getting Around
The city can be explored on foot with taxis used for larger distances. To see outside the city you’ll need a reliable 4WD. Arrangements can be made in Abu Dhabi city prior to departure.
