Akan National Park is located in eastern part of Hokkaido island. The park contains the volcanoes of Mt. Meakan-dake, Mt. Oakan-dake and Mt. Akan-Fuji, amongst others. These volcanoes sit around three famous volcanic lakes; Akan-ko; Kussharo-ko; and Mashu-ko. Of the three Lake Mashu-ko is internationally famous for having the highest level of clarity in the world. Close by is a primeval forest of spruce and white fir trees.

Akan National Park is a very popular destination offering spectacular scenery and magnificent panoramic views whilst enjoying outdoor activities such as canoeing, mountain bike tours, hot spring baths and camping.
