Getting Around Azores

Buses

There are buses on all islands but they tend to be very slow and are not always that convenient for visitors, being mainly used as a service to get locals to and from work. However, they are very cheap and the most useful service is on Sao Miguel.

Taxis

Taxis are a very reasonable way of getting around and tend to be new Mercedes or Citroens.

Car Hire

Cars can be hired on all the islands except Corvo.

Driving

Azoreans drive on the right and roads are generally good (asphalt) and well signposted.

Trains

There are no trains in the Azores.

Boats

The islands are linked by ferries with the most reliable and regular service between Faial, Pico and Sao Jorge.
