Getting Around Albania

Buses

Buses and minibuses operate between towns. Buses normally have 40 seats and run to timetables (with most departures in the morning). Minibuses have 12-15 seats and tend to leave when full.

Taxis

Shared taxis are a common form of transport in Albania. Cost is normally based on 4 passengers sharing.

Car Hire

Car hire is possible in Albania though self-driving is not the best way of travelling due to poor road conditions, lack of signposting and poor driving standards. Hiring a car with a English-spreaking driver/guide provides work locally and will enhance your travel experience.

Driving

Driving is on the right.

Trains

Limited coverage. Albanian trains are very cheap but extremely slow. For example from Tirana to Vlora, the journey takes around 5 hrs to cover just 200 km.
