International Flights to Thailand

Thailand is well-served by a full spectrum of international carriers from the UK. The national carrier is Thai Airways and the none-stop flight takes around 111/2 hours. Other carriers with none-stop services include BA, EVA Airways and Qantas, whilst Air India, Turkish Airlines and Qatar are some of the carriers with indirect flights.

British Airways’ non-stop overnight flight leaves London Heathrow at around 22:00hrs arriving mid-afternoon, at around 15:30hrs. This is a once daily service. Flight time: 11hrs 15 minutes.

Qantas operate a once-daily non-stop flight to Bangkok from London Heathrow. Leaving at around 22:15hrs it too arrives into Bangkok mid-afternoon. Flight time: 11hrs 20 minutes.

Operating a non-stop service 3 times per week EVA Airways offer an alternative to other carriers. This is an overnight services departing London Heathrow in the late evening for a mid-afternoon arrival into Bangkok. Flight time: 11hrs 20 minutes.

Domestic Flights in Thailand

Recent airline deregulation has meant that the country has seen a rapid growth of budget airlines. Popular routes are obviously between the main holiday centres of Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai and Koh Samui, but other towns and cities are served too. The national carrier, Thai Airways, has around 11 destinations at present with many more on a code-share basis. Other notable carriers include Nok Air, Bangkok Airways and Thai Airasia. Fares are cheap given distances covered and time saved.

At the time of writing they have two international routes, to Bangalore in India and Hanoi, Vietnam.

Launched in 2001 this no-frills, low cost carrier has services both within Thailand and further afield, serving over 48 destinations in Malaysia, Indonesia, Macau, China, Philippines, Cambodia, Vietnam and Myanmar. Popular routes include Chiang Rai, Surat Thani, Krabi, Phuket and Chiang Mai, all served from their Bangkok hub.

Bangkok Airways bill themselves as “Asia’s Boutique Airline”. Their routes feature regional and domestic destinations including Japan, China, Laos and Cambodia. They have services from Bangkok to Koh Samui, Sukhothai, Trat, Krabi and Phuket as well as the popular run to Chiang Mai.
