The national flag carrier of the Cape Verde Republic is to run a weekly service to Praia on the island of Santiago on Monday and a Thursday flight to the primary international airport on Sal Island from October 29 2007.
The airline, also known as TACV (Transportes Aéroes de Cabo Verde), will use a 160-seat Boeing 757 on both routes in a two-class configuration. Both flights have been timed to allow onward connections to Fortaleza in north eastern Brazil .

Astraeus launched the first direct flight service between the UK and Cape Verde in November 2006. They currently fly once a week (Thursday rotation) from both Gatwick and Manchester to Sal Island. Gatwick to Sal takes approximately 6 hours. Manchester to Sal takes 6 hours 20 minutes.

Services to smaller islands may only be 2-3 times a week. Santo Antao can only be reached by ferry. Schedules change often, overbooking is not uncommon, luggage is often 'forgotten'. This is Africa!
