Rich in history, culture and variety, Spain is one of Europe’s most enticing countries.

Whilst millions of people flock to Spain each year, the vast majority head to the beaches of the many miles of beautiful coastline – Costa del Sol being the most popular – leaving the less visited regions with an unspoilt, traditional atmosphere. Indeed, head just a short distance off the beaten track and visitors find there is much more to this rich and interesting country than the beaches.

Divided into seventeen autonomous regions, Spain’s most famous cities include the architecturally impressive Barcelona, cultural Madrid and vibrant Seville. Explore a little further and you’ll discover the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, the tasty tapas of San Sebastian, the splendid Conquistador towns of Extramadura, the Moorish palaces of Andalucia, the fiestas of Valencia and the pilgrims’ rest of Santiago de Compostela .

In the far north the Pyrenees mountain range borders with France, the dramatic Picos de Europa lie in the provinces of Cantabria and Asturias, whilst in the far south the Sierra Madre Mountains offer one of Europe’s most southerly ski resorts.

With fine wines, great food and a fiesta going on somewhere almost every day, Spain is a county that you’ll always want to return to.
