Poland is an ancient nation that was conceived near the middle of the 10th century. It holds a fascinating and very tempestuous history, traces of which can still be seen all over the country. Polish culture has a rich thousand-year history influenced by both West and East. Its unique character has always reflected world trends. Today, these influences are evident in Polish architecture, folklore, and art.

Poland is not just monuments, museums and history though - far from it! With the Carpathian Mountains in the south (including the Tatras), several major rivers and over 9,300 lakes, predominantly in the north, there is much to see and do for the traveller. Remnants of ancient forests, such as Białowieża Forest, still exist in the east of Poland. Polish cuisine is also one of many reasons why Poland is so enticing for many.
