The Land of the Blue Sky! Mongolia's seemingly never-ending horizons hide a wealth of natural and cultural treasures confounding expectation and delivering far and away more than most visitors can imagine.

Start in Ulaanbaatar a city that is lined by traditional gers, the felt tents of the nomad, before heading to the remote Gobi Desert of the south to climb sand dunes 200m high and search for dinosaur remains. At Karakorum, capital of the Mongols, discover the story of Genghis Khan and wander Erdene Zuu Monastery.

In the north spend time walking, kayaking or biking with Mongolia's reindeer herders at Lake Hovsgol then head to the vast steppe and more of those wide-open spaces to camp with horse and camel-breeding nomads in their gers.
