Travellers to Egypt have gazed in awe at the Pyramids for millennia, but visitors over the last 100 years have discovered that Egypt has a staggering amount to discover beside, with a vast array of both cultural and natural sights waiting to be explored.

From the minarets and mosques of Islamic Cairo to the treasures, temples and tombs found along the Nile Valley the country is one vast open-air museum. Lovers of the desert can explore the remote oases of the Western Desert or discover the canyons and mountains of the stunning Sinai peninsula.

Below the waves of the Red Sea the teeming marine life and coral wows snorkellers and divers alike, whilst the waters of the Nile carry those on cruises or amazing felucca sail-treks to ancient capitals like Thebes and the bazaar city of Aswan, where Egypt meets Africa.

Egypt really does have it all.

Egypt: Nile cruise + Train + Balloon

I recently took my family of four on an eight day (seven night) tour comprising:
Flight to Luxor, cruise boat from Luxor to Aswan visiting Edfu, Kom Ombo, Philae, and Elephantine Island. Then a train back from Aswan up to Luxor where we stayed in a hotel for three nights. Here we took an early morning balloon flight then visited Karnak, Valley of the Kings and the Hatshepsut Temple. Flight home from Luxor.
We had a brilliant time! The train journey was not for the faint hearted (like me) but my wife loved it! The MS Emilio cruise boat was really great. The Hod Hod Soliman hot air balloon was fantastic and the pilot very skilled and knowledgable. (This balloon featured on Blue Peter in 2005). The whole holiday was just great, super weather (late October), friendly people, fantastic sunsets, stunning historical sites! Wow!
A tip: Baksheesh (tipping) is essential in Egypt, you cannot avoid it, so just make sure you have enough small denomination money with you at all times.
