Situated in the north-eastern part of the Balkan Peninsula, Bulgaria is one of Europe's least-known destinations yet has a remarkable cultural heritage, a rich tradition of folklore, over 160 monasteries and no less than nine cultural sites and nature reserves on the UNESCO World Heritage List - ranging from ancient tombs to Rock Monasteries and ancient towns.

It is not just cultural wonders that draw travellers to this fascinating country - nature is at its very best here. With nearly a third of the nation covered in mountains, Bulgaria is a haven for summer walkers, mountain bikers and activity fanatics in search of fresh European air, beautiful vistas and ancient stone-built villages.  In winter, a whole range of winter snow activities are possible from skiing to snowshoeing.

Bulgaria is also a paradise for ornithologists, drawn to the lakes around Burgas and the Black Sea.  For those in search of sunshine and relaxation, the fine white sand beaches and vibrant resorts of the Black Sea hold much appeal.  All in all Bulgaria is an incredibly varied country which will welcome you with true Bulgarian hospitality.
