Bhutan is a land of mystery nestled in the eastern Himalayas and known as the Land of the Thunder Dragon. A secret Shangri la, ‘Druk Yul’ as it is known by its people has only relatively recently been able to be visited by foreigners, the much-loved monarchy keen to minimize the negative impact of travel and external influences on its people.

Bhutan offers spectacular Himalayan landscapes of immense beauty, with Buddhist monasteries or dzongs like the ‘tiger’s nest of Taktshang, stunning festivals where masked dances are performed, welcoming people who retain a truly traditional lifestyle and offer unconditional friendship and walking and trekking routes for all abilities and interests in areas such as the famous Bumthang Valley and Paro.
