Built by the Nipponzan Myohoji organisation of Japan the pagoda is a large Buddhist stupa dominating the southern shore of Phewa Lake and dedicated as the name suggests to world peace. Not only is the pagoda impressive in itself but the fine views from the site are the perfect place to admire the mountain views and for private reflection. Access can be by boat from the lakeside or on foot: a walk from Pokhara is around 2 hours through some very pretty local scenery.
