The Candelaria Cave is one of the most important caves in this region and at 30 km long it is one of the two largest caves in the Americas and one of the six largest in the world. The ancient Mayan people considered the cave to be the entrance to the underworld of Xibalba and today rituals are still being held there. A visit to this cave is a natural and archaeological spectacle which you can explore either by foot or in specially equipped small boats designed for cave rafting.
