Nagda lies some 2 km from Eklingji and is the site of some interesting 10th and 11th century Jain temples, one of which – Abduji – holds a black, marble image of Shati Nath, a Jain tirthankar (a man or woman who has attained enlightenment).
Nearby, the small village of Eklingji, named for Lord Shiva, is home to 108 temples chiselled out of sandstone and marble and which date from 734AD. Before the entrance in the main temple there is a beautifully sculpted huge Nandi (the bull vehicle of Shiva) whilst the main temple itself has an ornate mandap (carved-pillared hall) and massive pyramid-shaped roof composed of hundreds of knots vividly carved and finely decorated with coloured stones.
