Located a 20 minute drive south from Zagora on the left side of the road are the Tinfou Dunes. Close enough to Zagora for a short excursion, the sand dunes at Tinfou rise in isolation in the midst of the stony desert set against a backdrop of the Bani mountains.

Once at the dunes (which are just off the main road to Mhamid) camels can be hired for a classic (though slightly touristy) ride around the dunes. The dunes are not particularly steep and a short walk leads to the highest point for great photo opportunities of the surrounding area. For travellers with kids who've not seen dunes before, a visit to Tinfou should be fun.
