Don Det is livelier than Don Khong with as wide an array of accommodation and places to eat. It is however much smaller being just 2km by ½ km. It s split from Don Khon to the south by a narrow channel.

You can walk around the island here, perhaps to timeless Ban Khon where some fast decaying yet atmospheric French colonial buildings remain. Wat Khon Tai is built on the remains of an earlier Khmer-era temple dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva.

Other things to see are the Tat Somphamit Falls and the remains of an old French railway locomotive!
