El Castillo de San Cristobal is not as old as it looks: it was built in the mid-19th Century during a period of turbulence throughout Central America, and the two famous cannons were donated by Spain later … to give it that old feel!

Nonetheless, the fort offers unparalleled views over Gracias, the surrounding valley and Celaque Mountain.
