The cultural heart of the island, Sandy Bay is home to the island’s museums and marine centres/reserves. The Institute for Marine Sciences has a twice daily dolphin show in the Sandy Bay Marine Reserve, which not surprisingly also offers excellent diving and snorkelling. 

On land, there is the Tropical Treasures Bird Park , with a collection of 100-odd tropical birds: and the Carambola Botanical Reserve, the only developed inland reserve on the Bay Islands and a breeding ground for iguanas and parrots.
