The presence of tourism is still limited on the far reaches of Roatan Island, so there is no better place on Roatan to meet the island’s real inhabitants or avoid the development back along the coast. 

There are also good reefs for diving and snorkelling just offshore at both Punta Gorda and Oak Ridge.
