Only reachable by boat, since there are no roads to connect it to the rest of the country, the lively town of Livingston has a Caribbean atmosphere and is most famous as the home of Guatemala’s Garifuna culture. It is a wonderful place to spend a few days relaxing, swimming, hiking and enjoying the wonderful local specialities of lobster or coconut prawns and listening to the local African-style ‘punta’ music.
