The Punta Izopo National Park, covering 112 square km, and named after the small Izopo Mountain, is home to diverse wildlife including alligators, monkeys, turtles and many birds. Its dense vegetation and mangrove forests are coupled with culture and history in the form of the local Garifuna village, Triunfo de la Cruz.

Punta Izopo is a little-visited treat for bird and animal-spotters.
