The main landing point on Fernandina Island is located across the Bolivar Channel from Tagus Cove on Isla Isabela, Home to the largest colony of marine iguanas in the Galapagos, the island is also home to sea lions and nesting site for the flightless cormorant.
There are two main trails that lead over the sands and basalt rocks, one leads to the lava fields, where the recent volcanic activity on the island can be seen, and lava cactus may be found. The other leads towards an area rich with wildlife and some mangroves. Keep your eyes open for the marine iguanas burrowed into holes in the sand as well as the Galapagos penguin which can sometimes be found here.
