Located in the eastern end of Darwin Bay, Prince Phillip's Steps is the location of a dry landing site, where a rocky path is carved directly into the rocky volcanic walls of Genovesa Island.

A trail leads up the 25 meter high walls of the bay to and through one of the largest nesting colonies where visitors will often see thousands of storm petrels and red-footed boobies. The air here is often thick with birdlife, and amongst the nests it is sometimes possible to spot short-eared owls hidden amongst the rocks.
