Located inside the Parque Natural Sipacate-Naranjo, is the relaxed and laid back village of Sipacate. As well as being a mangrove coastal reserve it is also Guatemala's best surfing beach with waves averaging around six feet and which are most consistent between December and April. 

The beach is separated from the village by the Canal de Chiquimulilla, which can be crossed using one of the boats which transport travellers from village to beach and back.
