Directly north of Baltra (sometimes referred to as South Seymour) and Santa Cruz Islands, Isla Seymour is home to the largest colony of beautiful red-pouched frigate birds in Galapagos. It is also a major nesting site for blue-footed boobies, yellow warblers and swallow-tailed gulls, as well as holding a large population of marine iguanas.
Formed by geological uplift, the island is relatively flat and low level, with an easy two kilometre trail which leads visitors from the black rocky shore, towards areas of where palo santo shrubs grow and on to the mangroves where several fascinating colonies of birdlife can be watched.
