The Garifuna village of Miami is an idyllic location on a narrow sand spit, backed by Laguna de los Micos and fronted by the Caribbean, contained in the Punta Sal National Park. Miami is the best known of the various Garifuna communities in the area and offers its visitors an insight into 200 years of traditions and customs preserved from the time they arrived in this area. 

Other Garifuna villages worth visiting along the coast near Tela include Tornabe, San Juan, La Ensenada and Triunfo de la Cruz..
