Located in the southern side of the medina, the Mellah is the Jewish quarter of Marrakech. First founded in 1558 it was once surrounded by walls with only two entrances and was home to up to 16,000 at one time. There are now few Jews left but the area is worth a visit to see the narrow streets with tightly packed houses.
