Several self-guided trails have been set up in and around Stanley to allow visitors to discover the settlement at their own leisure.

1. Maritime History Trail.
This focuses on the maritime history of the region, with particular emphasis on the many wrecks still seen in the bay. Information boards are found alonf the trail and full information in available in the visitors’ centre.

2. Stanley Nature Trail
Walking along the shores between the harbour and Stanley is a wonderful short nature trail where an excellent variety of waders and other birdlife can be found.

3. Stanley Historic Trail
The historic trail around Stanley is designed to give visitors an insight into the unique history of some of the interesting areas of the Falklands’ capital.

The trail starts and ends at the head of the Public Jetty and includes most of the highlights, but make an extension if you can and visit the whaling display set up in a resident’s front garden, which is a memorial to the harsh whaling trade of times gone by. This can be found towards the top of town on Dairy Paddock Road.
