The mountain village of Solola is well worth a visit as whilst exploring its market you can enjoy fantastic views of the lake and the surrounding volcanoes. The market is an important place for local people to sell their produce as well as being a social gathering. 

Women will often carry their produce, such as vegetables, tortillas, textiles and even a couple chickens, in a traditional Mayan market basket. Weaving is of major importance and the fabric, textiles and clothes sold at the market are produced by the local women who weave on a backstrap loom.
