The cloud forests of La Tigra National Park, covering 23,571 hectares, are rich in biodiversity, with a huge variety of flora and fauna, just 11km from the city. Over 200 species of birds, for example, are found here.

A couple of routes into the park exist, which also take you through some small towns. Visitors may decide to lodge in the park itself, allowing more time for bird-watching or hiking the extensive trail system.
