Known as the ‘monkey temple’ Galta is a place of pilgrimage made up of temples, pavilions and holy kunds (natural spring and water tanks). There is a small temple of the Sun God, Surya, built by Diwan Kriparam on top of the highest peak and which is visible from the city. A walking trail leads to the site from the eastern Suraj Pol (gate).
