Barga is a small town set in the spectacular Garfagnana Valley of northern Tuscany. It dates back to the 8th century and, crowned with its Duomo (cathedral), retains many medieval features.

The narrow alleys and streets are lined with beautiful buildings painted in reds and ochres. There are shady piazzas are surrounded by antique shops and restaurants.

It is famous for its festivals and art events which include opera, jazz and theatre shows and on the second Sunday each month there is an antique and craft market. Barga makes the perfect town-base from which to explore on foot.
