One of the most impressive sights on Graciosa island is the Sulphur Cavern. You enter the crater wall through a tunnel and then descend a concrete spiral staircase of 184 steps to the cave floor. 

Inside there is a large lake which is gradually draining, maybe into the thermal area at Carapacho.
