The Emperor Penguin is the world’s largest penguin, standing over a metre tall. There are rookeries scattered around the more remote parts of Antarctica - mainly in the Ross and Weddell Seas. They breed in winter and their habits have become familiar due to a number of films, both documentary and fiction, such as the outstanding documentary March of the Penguins and the popular cartoon Happy Feet.
