Dubai is famous for its shopping and it attracts thousands of visitors each year keen to take advantage of the low prices. Souks can be found on both sides of Dubai Creek but the huddle of narrow alleyways on the Deira side of the water are perhaps most peoples image of a Middle Eastern market.
There are spice souks where bags of incense, rose petals and traditional medicinal products are stacked outside each stall and the atmosphere and smells of the past can be enjoyed. In the gold souk each shop glitters with the goods the price of which are some of the lowest in the world.
The Bur Dubai side of the Creek is known for its clothes and textiles and blazes of material including silk are there to be enjoyed. At the other end of the scale the Deira fish market is busy with local fishermen unloading their catches and provides any number of photo opportunities.
