Santa Rita de Copan, located close to the Guatemalan border, is a picturesque mountain village by the Copan River which has a beautiful waterfall with pools ideal for swimming underneath. The village itself has cobblestone streets, red tiled roofs and a beautiful plaza and church.

Nearby there is a private reserve of undisturbed tropical forest which is inhabited by 6 families of howling monkeys.

At the time of writing the village is unfortunately strictly off limits for visitors due to security reasons.
