Christ Church Cathedral was built between 1890 and 1903. Focal point of Stanley, it is a large stone and brick building whose corrugated iron roof is brightly painted, in keeping with the rest of the settlement. Several beautiful stained glass windows depict local scenes and mass here is always a well attended affair.

Just outside stands the Whalebone Arch. This symbol of Stanley was constructed in 1933 from the jawbones of two blue whales to commemorate the centenary of continuous British administration in the Falklands.
