Sat on Kitchener’s Island in the middle of the Nile at Aswan the gardens can be reached by felucca or ferry from the town itself. Kitchener developed the gardens in the 1920s indulging his passion for all things floral. Whilst not extensive (covering around 12 acres) the palm-shaded walkways provide a different view of the city skyline and a cool retreat from sightseeing in town.
