The three-storey brick Bhimsen Temple’s is dedicated to the god of trade and business and is always lined with traders selling souvenirs. It’s original building date is unknown but it was restored in the 17th century and again after the 1934 earthquake. Guarded by lions it has a gilded roof and gold dhvaja (banner) on the first floor. The wonderful and elaborately carved balconies have images of Shiva, Parvati, and Ganesh on them. Much venerated by merchants who continue to bestow gifts their efforts have added some remarkably incongruous additions to it.
