Located in a backstreet of old Muscat the Beit al Zubair is an old Omani townhouse which has been converted into a modern and well-laid out little museum. Its contents - an extensive private collection of ethnographic material including jewellery, weaponry, costume, maps, engravings, old photographs and household artefacts - are well laid out, lit and labelled. The museum regularly hosts cultural events and there is a library and reconstructions of typical barasti houses and a souk.
