Kamping Poy is today the site of a recreational lake but it was built by the Khmer Rouge, one of their grander schemes, it is a massive slave-built dam stretches for about 8km between two hills. Locals claim the dam was intended to be the killing grounds for “enemies of the revolution”, but it is more likely that it was simply an irrigation project; nevertheless we shouldn't forget that up to 10,000 Cambodians are thought to have died during its construction. Today the lake is a popular swimming spot and place for boat rides, the past put to the back of the mind, if not forgotten.
