A day trip away from Arequipa is the UNESCO World Heritage site of Toro Muerto, the world’s largest field of petroglyphs. The carved designs can be seen in various states of repair, and include images of llamas, people and other animals. The site is vast and set in breathtakingly beautiful countryside.
