The Lady of Ampato, affectionately known as Juanita, was discovered at the summit of the Ampato volcano in 1995. Believed to have been sacrificed at the age of 14 years some 500 years ago, Juanita’s body remains frozen and is remarkably preserved within this fascinating museum, which also includes several artefacts and beautiful textiles from this era.
