Antigua’s historic centre reveals cobbled streets filled with cathedrals, churches and wonderful architecture. All dating from the mid-1500's, the Cathedral of Santiago, the Church and Convent de Nuestra Señora de la Merced and the Church and Convent of Santo Domingo are a few of Antigua’s most historic sites. Surrounded by City Hall, the Captain’s Palace and the Metropolitan Cathedral, Antigua’s Plaza Mayor, is among the finest plazas in the country. 

The city’s colourful and vibrant market displays a wonderful array of goods, including the unique crafts of the local Mayan women.
