Bringing Excellence In Diving to Aqaba

The new Barracuda Diving Club is owned and managed by dive-obsessed diver Ahmed Qatawneh. With his whole adult life spent diving and running dive clubs for others Ahmed decided it was time to set up the best dive club in Aqaba himself and in March 2007 the Barracuda Diving Club was born.

The founding principle of Barracuda is, quite simply, to provide the best dive experience in Aqaba and we have met this challenge by investment in three key areas: quality Clubhouse and Dive Centre, quality staff and quality equipment. Barracuda has the newest dive equipment in Aqaba, two compressors, a dedicated classroom to teach people on courses a great Clubhouse with its own accommodation set in new gardens, right on the sea front.

Ahmed’s own experience in managing dive operations is unparalleled, having dived all Aqaba’s sites and dozens more around the world. Highly trained (Ahmed holds PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer, BSAC Advanced & First Class Instructor and CMAS Moniteur Instructor*** qualifications) he knows what marks a good experience from a bad one and has ensured he has recruited only staff that share his belief in quality and safety in diving.

In October 2007 the Barracuda Diving Club was voted one of the world's top 100 dive operator by Underwasser magazine.

Barracuda’s staff and equipment separate it from all other dive operators in Aqaba, without exception. Our experience, Clubhouse and Dive Centre, staff and equipment quite simply cannot be matched wherever one looks in the country. With standards that surpass international norms the Barracuda Diving Club is the place to learn to dive or make day dives from.

Licences And Associations

We are a PADI Resort Centre a CMAS Resort and BSAC Premier School and are members of all three organisations. We are also licensed by the Aqaba Special Economic Zone, license number 3079.

Responsible Travel

Here at Barracuda Diving Club we recognise that poor dive-practice can have a negative effect on the fragile sea life we come to see, and thus we have a strict conservation policy, with no touching of sea life or removal of corals or shells. This policy is reinforced before every dive and participants are monitored to ensure that they comply. Our motto is ’Take only photos and good memories and leave only bubbles’.

Daily Dive Excursions

Season: Year round

Our daily dive trips take the qualified diver (and snorkeller) with or without their own equipment to the many dive sites along the coast. We operate such trips 7 days per week. All sites are accessible as shore dives.

Qualification Courses

Season:

We provide qualification training courses to take complete beginners through to qualification as open water divers in a mix of classroom (theory), pool and open water dive training under the PADI, CMAS and BSAC programmes. We also offer qualified divers a wide range of additional improvement course such as Assistant Instructor and Ocean Diver.

Tailor-made Dive Expeditions

Season:

We are able to create tailor made dive experiences for qualified divers who want something special, such as one on one guided safaris, night dives etc.
