Travel Experts: Francetrek

The Best Walking and Cycling Holidays in Provence

Francetrek was created almost 2 decades ago by committed outdoor enthusiasts Patrick and Christiane Heffron with the aim of putting Patrick’s qualifications as a European Mountain Leader and instructor to good use in creating the very best walking holidays in the region.

When we discovered Vinsobres in the northern part of Provence and saw it had all the advantages of the Provencal climate, its history and beautiful countryside, coupled with close proximity to amazing mountain regions we knew it was the perfect place from which to grow.

Our business has expanded over the years and yet we remain small and family-run. When our clients contact us here at Francetrek, it’s us they speak to and we are therefore able to give advice and make suggestions to enable clients to match the best itinerary to their abilities, or to create the perfect rambling, walking or trekking itinerary in Provence to suit their needs.

Why not contact us to see if we can help you see the best of Provence?

Background

We have evolved to specialise in guided walking and cycling on set departure dates, but in addition also tailor-make such trips to your needs. All our trips are accommodated in wonderful gites, small, family run hotels and traditional guesthouses ensuring the flavour of Provence runs through every part of the trip.

With the combination of plentiful flights from the UK’s main and regional airports or train travel on the super-fast TGV combined with our included transfers and getting here is simple.

Our years of experience and relaxed, informative style ensures an unforgettable holiday in one of France’s most spectacular regions.

Licences And Associations

We are a fully authorised by the French authorities to act as an independent mountain and hill walking centre and we are affiliated to the French tourist Office. In addition Pat holds membership of the AMI (Association of Mountain Instructors), the Compagnie des Guides Oisans Ecrins and is an accredited EML (European Mountain Leader).

Responsible Travel

Travelling on foot is perhaps the most environmentally friendly ways of getting about, but travelling with us is much more than this.

Because we are locally based and work closely with local suppliers we are helping to support a vast network of people and without our visits and custom their incomes would be much reduced and in some cases maintaining a viable business may not be possible.

From restaurateurs to gite cleaners, staff in wineries and olive mills your support helps maintain people in this delightful yet ultimately vulnerable corner of France.
