The Aberdares National Park is located in the central highlands, west of Mount Kenya. The park covers the area mainly above the tree line around the 10,000ft contour of the mountains, with some forest and scrub at lower altitude in the ‘salient’ area near to Nyeri, with the boundary running down to 7000ft in places.

Its unusual vegetation, rugged terrain, streams and waterfalls combine to create an area of great scenic beauty in the National Park. The park is surrounded by a predominantly indigenous forest.

Heavy rain can occur throughout the year with as much as 3000mm falling in the south east, and 1000m on the north western slopes. The park is an important water catchment area, supplying water to the Tana and Athi rivers.

Cards are issued at Nairobi Park Main Gate, Lake Nakuru Park Main Gate, Tsavo East Main Gate and Mombasa KWS Offices, the card is designed to replace paper tickets, it stores monetary value and is re-usable as more value can be added to it. It’s purpose is to improve revenue collection and customer service.
