The High Place of Sacrifice is accessed by a staircase on the left hand side of the wadi between the Treasury and the theatre. Some historians put forward that this was the place that human and animal sacrifices were held, though there is much dispute about the subject.
A climb takes 30 or so minutes and on the way you’ll pass obelisks and the remains of a ruined fortress. The High Place itself consists of a simple sunken square, with various platforms thought to be connected with religious ceremonies. A small, circular basin (with a drain hole) may have been for washing whilst the square one may have held a statue of a deity. Come for the views which are amazing if nothing else.
