At Ahar an impressive cluster of many cenotaphs of the Maharanas of Mewar form an impressive sight, their umbrella like chhatris sat atop pillars of marble are both striking and beautiful. The best cenotaph is that of Maharana Amar Singh, who reigned from 1597 to 1620. Nearby is the Ahar Museum, where a somewhat limited display of very rare earthen pottery (with some pieces dating back to 1700 BCE) can be seen along with some sculptures and other archaeological finds. A tenth century metal figure of the Buddha deserves special attention.
